Looking for a fun, hands-on way to explore the art of tufting? Join us at the Tuftology Studio in Alexandria, VA, for an immersive in-person tufting workshop where you’ll learn how to use a tufting gun to create your very own rug or textile masterpiece!
In this 6-hour guided class, our expert instructors will teach you the fundamentals of tufting, from setting up your frame to mastering the tufting machine. You'll gain hands-on experience in:
- Setting up your tufting frame & backing cloth
- Threading & operating a tufting gun (choose between cut or loop pile)
- Techniques for creating texture & design in your piece
- Finishing techniques (applying glue, adding a secondary fabric, and trimming)
Each participant will work on their own custom design within a 22" x 22" frame, with all materials—including yarn, backing fabric, and glue—included in the workshop cost.

A: For our tufting workshop, we provide all the necessary materials and tools, including a tufting frame, yarn, tufting guns, and backing fabric. You don't need to bring anything except your creativity and enthusiasm!

Each tufting class session typically lasts around 2 to 3 hours. This time includes instruction, hands-on tufting, and finishing touches on your project.

After you finish tufting your masterpiece, we apply a special glue to seal your work, and it needs at least 48 hours to dry. Once it’s ready, we’ll add the finishing touches and ship your unique creation straight to your doorstep—on us! This way, you’ll get a beautifully completed piece.
